Suzhou,China-Japan express shipping service 'faster than air freight'

China's north western city of Suzhou has launched an express shipping line that claims to be faster than air freight options available.

The new weekly service connects Suzhou's Taicang Port to Japan's Port of Shimonoseki, using a ship that can carry 300 TEU. The sailing time from Taicang to Shimonoseki was only 36 hours, which is faster than air transport. The service is also said to be able to cut down the shipping costs 80% between Suzhou and Japan.
