Ports in Shandong province, northeast China, registered a 14.3% growth in throughput to hit 650 million tons in 2008.
The three largest provincial ports Qingdao, Rizhao, Yantai (including Longkou port) handled 563 million tons of cargo, accounting for 85.6% of the total. Qingdao port's volume grew 13.3% to 300 million tons, while Rizhao port moved 151 million tons with a 15.6% increase and Yantai handled 112 million tons, up 10.5%.
